Bishop | Gospel Artist | Grammy Nominated Songwriter | Stellar Award Winner | Author

Bishop Jason Nelson is one of the most recognized and emerging vocal stars in gospel music.  The Baltimore, Maryland native and Stellar Award winner is Pastor of The Tabernacle at Greater Bethlehem Temple in Randallstown, MD.  His father Bishop James D. Nelson Sr. pastored the same church where Jason grew up singing and playing bass guitar with twin brother Jonathan and sister Janice.  Jason’s wife Tonya of 20 years and their children, Jaelyn (18) and Jason Christopher (11) are one of his greatest accomplishments. He is a committed husband, devoted father, shepherd, Grammy-nominated Songwriter, Composer, Producer, Author and Gospel Artist.

Jason’s anointed voice and ministry spread hope, inspiration and Gods promise globally.  In 2005 his first project, I Shall Live, solidified him as a major new voice in gospel.  His 2008 sophomore album, Place of Worship further expanded his musical notoriety and acumen as a gifted Singer and Songwriter.  This was evident when he wrote the title track of Marvin Sapp’s top-selling CD, Thirsty, that included Sapp’s megahit, Never Would Have Made It.  Thirsty went on to earn both Sapp and Jason a Grammy nomination.  In 2013 his 3rd album Jesus Revealed birthed an arsenal of praise and worship hits including Nothing Without You, Shifting the Atmosphere and I Am which remained #1 on the charts for 20 consecutive weeks.  The album earned him a coveted 2013 Stellar Award for Praise and Worship CD of The Year.  This acknowledgement was a surprising and humbling honor propelling him to continue writing, producing and performing soulful contemporary praise and worship gospel music for the masses.

Jason’s early influences include The Winans, especially Marvin Winans, Fred Hammond, Donny Hathaway, Eric Dawkins, Dawkins & Dawkins and Kim Burrell.  He has collaborated with numerous gospel performers including Tasha Cobbs- Leonard, William McDowell, Sunday Best winner Tasha Page-Lockhart, Israel Houghton, Maurette Brown Clark and twin brother Jonathan Nelson.  Bishop Nelson regards himself a teacher and a worshiper at heart.  His confidence and gifts from God fuel his passion to create inspirational music that is God-centered and empowering.  His ministry and music remind listeners of the power of God.

All stands true and resonate in his newly released single Forever from his 5th album The Answer which will be released May 18th, 2018.  The Answer features powerful vocalists such as Maranda Curtis, Naomi Raine and twin brother Jonathan Nelson; with majority of the new CD being recorded before a full capacity audience at his church The Tabernacle.  Stay tuned for more of the Jason Nelson brand.
